Day 119
We made it to FRIDAY!
It has been a whole week of online learning and all I can say is WOW! I am so impressed with all the hard work that is going on. Use your weekend to recharge and spend time with your family. Your homework for this weekend is to read 15 minutes a day and get outside in your backyard as much as possible! We will have another full week of online learning starting on Monday! Keep up all your hard work my friends! I am so very proud of you.

Math: Learning Goals: For students to create and solve story problems using place value mats.
Success Criteria
- - I can use place value mats to solve subtraction problems
- - I can use borrowing to solve subtraction problems
- - I can identify words that help me determine if I need to add or subtract

Before we begin I would like to do a warm up subtraction problem for you to solve using a place value mat.
Max baked 35 chocolate chip cookies for his bake sale at school. His mom told him he needed to share with is sister’s class so he had to give 16 to her. How many cookies was Max left with?
Today for math we are going to continue working on subtraction using place value mats and column subtraction. I have attached below copies of the step by step method to follow when subtracting with and without borrowing. We will be working through two pages of math today. Subtraction steps

Page 166: You are required to create and solve story problems using place value mats. ‘Bookworm Bonanza’- Read the story problem and identify the key words that helps us identify that we need to subtract. Then you will use the place value mat to solve the story problem.
Page 167: ‘The Bookworm List’, on the top of the page there is a list of the top five books and the amount of pages each book consists of. You are responsible in the first box to create a story problem using the book list. For example: I picked the book called Once Again and Back in Time. I then looked at how many pages each book has. 76 pages and 32 pages. Now I will make a story problem using pictures, numbers or words 76-32= 44. Then in the bottom box you will make another story problem using two different books from the list and solve it. I know it says swap with a partner but I would like you to solve it! If you have time and mom and dad are free I challenge you to create a story problem for them to solve!

Language: Learning Goals: Students will complete their weekly spelling test.
Success Criteria

~Explanation: You will complete your weekly spelling test. Please see my video for the spelling test. I will be going through the spelling test in the video below. I know that I said mom and dad will be delivering the spelling test but I have changed my mind. Please follow along in my lesson video below for spelling test and bonus word at the end! Once you finish your spelling test we will be having a quiet time session
Quiet Time Session: Comprehension Package: ‘Anna and the Missing Puzzle Piece’
Today you will read ‘Anna and the Missing Puzzle Piece’. You will answer the questions after reading the story (be sure to use a proper sentence to answer question 4). I would like you to complete the matching page and the writing page which asks you to write about a time you used teamwork. The answer sheet to the first 2 pages is attached. I would like you to be honest when checking the answers. You can use a coloured pencil to put check marks or to write the correct response.

Unit of Inquiry: Learning Goals: For students to finish any unfinished art activities such as their sugar skull, dot art or Ted Harrison landscape painting.
Success Criteria
- I can independently use different materials to complete my art work.
- I can complete any unfinished art work from the week.
~Explanation:
Today students are going to use this UOI time to complete any unfinished work from unit of inquiry this week. If students have finished their Ted Harrison landscape painting, dot art and sugar skull they are able to pick another template from the dot art package that I sent and complete that.
