Math:Today students worked through double-digit addition word problems. We reviewed important key words to look for when answering word problems such as altogether, plus, more etc. After we answered word problems we introduced subtraction with borrowing, we did examples as a class and I read children a subtraction poem to help them! Tomorrow we will continue to learn and go over subtraction!

Inquiry into Language: Today students worked in the spelling workbook reviewing words that have a short vowel sound! After they were finished we did 15 minutes of free reading where I was able to come around and listen to some readers.

After we went to go and watch Oakwood’s Christmas concert! Way to go everyone, it was wonderful to see of the different acts J

Math:Today students reviewed double-digit addition with carrying. We reviewed the ones and tens place value. Next, students had to add up different animals groups and figure out how many animals they were altogether. If children felt confident they moved on to adding independently.

Inquiry into Language: Today students started their first entry for their journal about being stuck in a snow globe. We brainstormed ideas today and tomorrow we will write our good copy. We reviewed that a journal should have…
- Introduction sentence
- Sentence starters: first, then, next and lastly
- Detailed sentences
- Proper punctuation


Unit of Inquiry: Today students organized their own closet. Before we started drawing pictures of our clothing we thought about how we could organize it to make it neat and tidy and easy to find things.

Parent Guild is hosting a Christmas Skate at Meadowvale 4-Rinks on Thursday, December 20th, from 3:30-5:30 PM. The cost is $10/student, but free for parents. Hot chocolate will be served and the big guy will be in attendance for pictures. What a fun way to start the holidays. Order forms have been sent home and the deadline to return them is Monday, December 10th

This morning Joy brought in a new Christmas book for our library! We can’t wait to read it closer to Christmas break.

Math:Today students used different strategies to add three numbers. We went over doubles and the finding ten strategy to help us add all three numbers together. After we finished, we worked on our addition with carrying on the board and children answered some addition questions independently.

Daily 5:For daily 5 today we had 15 minutes of silent reading and Miss Gandy came around and listened to some readers. Next we practiced our routine for the Christmas concert.

Unit of Inquiry: Today students earned free time for fun Friday! They were able to play hangman, colour or work in their cursive book! After we were called to rehearse for our Christmas performance!
