Inquiry into Language: Today students read chapters 20,21 and 22 of or novel study ‘Charlie and The Chocolate Factory’ and answered comprehension questions about what they read.

Math: Today students reviewed 3-D shapes and their properties (faces, edges, and vertices). We did different math centres today on our tables. Each table had a different activity relating to 3-D shapes and as students finished they would move to the other centre. The first station was naming the shapes and their vertices, edges, and faces. The second station had to create a sorting rule and sort different shapes into a Venn diagram. The third station had various tasks cards they were required to answer. The last station was building 3-D nets!

Unit of Inquiry: Today students learned about Benjamin Franklin and all his different discoveries and inventions. We learned that Benjamin Franklin discovered electricity through an experiment with a kite in a storm. He also invented lots of other things such as the bifocal glasses, Franklin stove and he helped out the public school system, the U.S currency system and he was one of the few men who signed the U.S Constitution. Students watched a video about Benjamin Franklin and answered comprehension questions.

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
