Spelling Bee packages and lists were sent home. Please use the list to study for the in-class competition. The Grade 1 in-class Spelling Bee will take place on Thursday, April 4th.

I hope everyone had a wonderful break! I am so happy to have everyone back and into the swing of things for our last term of grade one! (CRAZY)

Math: Today students reviewed how to complete addition problems using a place value mat. Students checked their answers using addition in columns. Independently, the students worked through questions recalling their knowledge from previous lessons. We also went over the review package that was sent home over the March Break

Inquiry into Language:Today children learned their new spelling words for the week and completed activities from their spelling workout book.

Unit of Inquiry:Students were introduced to their new unit of inquiry. They looked at a power pint about a famous Canadian artist ‘Ted Harrison’. Students reviewed primary and secondary colours and learned about warm and cool colours. Students looked at different paintings Ted Harrison made and how he used warm and cool colours. They also started an outline of a Ted Harrison painting that they will complete tomorrow.
