I hope everyone had a lovely long weekend celebrating Valentine’s Day and Family Day! It was very nice to spend that extra day with family.

Reading Buddies: Today we had a visit from our reading buddies in Ms. Foti’s class!

Math: Today students continued to learn about 3-D shapes and their properties. Students needed to select a house and explain why they would choose that house as the best one. Then students needed to select a structure, build it and explain how they built it. We also reviewed 3-D solids name, faces, edges and vertices with our table members.

Inquiry into Language: Today students learned their words of the week. Then they used their spelling words to complete various tasks within their spelling workout book.

Unit of Inquiry: Today we learned about our new inventors ‘The Wright Brothers’ and the invention of the airplane. We watched a video that discussed the life of the Wright Brothers and how they invented the first powered airplane. We discussed the difference between the first plane to the airplanes we see in the sky today. Then together as a class we started answering comprehension questions about

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
