Jump Rope for Heart – It is that time again! We will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart on Thursday, February 14th. Donation packages have been sent home. You can make a pledge using cash or you can donate on the website - jumpropeforheart.ca. House points will be rewarded to each student who brings in donations. If we meet our school goal of $2500, students will be rewarded with a fun activity. Let’s see what we can do SJA!
Happy Fantastic Friday!
We have reached our first reward line on the blurt jar. Way to go everyone! I was very impressed with how successful this has been so far
We had so much fun in the snow today during recess...
Daily 5: We started the day with daily 5 because Mlle. Jessica was covering a class. We worked on our cursive writing and reading. Miss. Gandy was able to pull some readers and complete some assessments.
Music: Next we had a music lesson with Mrs. Mcmillan. Please see her blog at https://mrsmcmillanmusic.blogspot.com
Math: Today we were introduced to our next unit, Data Management and Probability. We went over two types of graphs; bar graphs and pictographs. We talked about the similarities, differences and what needs to be included on both of them. Next children had to pull a tile from a bag, colour a square in the path, and replace the tile and repeat until one row was filled. There were 10 red tiles and 5 blue tiles. We had to think what colour would win and why? We realized that because there were more red tiles, they were more likely to win.
Inquiry into Language:Today students wrote their spelling test!
Agenda:
Book retell sheet due Monday
Get spelling and math test signed- return Monday
Read 15 minutes
Market January 24 and 25
Jump rope for heart fundraising
Unit of Inquiry:Today we brainstormed what we know about the word ‘Risk Taker’. We then read a story and had to think about how the little penguin was being a Risk Taker.
After we read we completed a sheet describing what we think being a risk-taker means and how we can be/have been one. We gave examples to the class of when we had been brave, tried new things or even went outside our comfort zones. I had some very good responses!
Thank you to my teacher helper Omar; you are always such a great help!
Please continue to work on the book retell with your child. Reminder it needs to be 3-5 minutes
Have a wonderful snowy weekend,
Miss Gandy
