Re-registrations packages have been sent home. All completed forms are due back no later than February 11^th, 2019, in order to save your spots.

Mr. Foster’s Farmers Market and Ms. Gandy’s Groceries

As part of our summative assessment the grade one classes have decided to open a market to complement our organization unit. The market will include fruits, vegetables, drinks and other healthy snacks. It will be held in rooms 25, 28 and 29. The market will take place all day Thursday, January. 24^th and Friday, January. 25^th. All profits made will be donated to the Sick Kid’s Hospital.

Today we had a visitor come from Jump rope for heart to talk to us about a healthy lifestyle, exercise, signs of a stroke and why it is important we fundraise for this cause. We heard a few stories about the money being raised going to children, doctors and hospitals to help continue to fight for children who need it most! SJA’s goal this year is to raise 2,500 dollars! A letter was sent home in the agenda to start raising money.

Jump rope for heart fundraising

Unit of Inquiry:Today students broke out into the four groups for the market. As a group they needed to make a grocery list of things they could potentially buy. For example: Vegetables group came up with a grocery list of 10 vegetables. Then one by one each group member got to choose one to two things to bring of that item!

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
