Happy Wednesday!
Tomorrow is our in class speech competition! We are really looking forward to hearing all the wonderful retells.
Math: Today students learned about greater or less numbers. Students played a game where they needed to add different cards together and tally if the sum was greater or less than a given number. Then they put their information into a bar graph to show their findings.
Then we discussed how Groundhog Day is this Sunday! We decided to take a survey of who thinks the groundhog will see his shadow and who thinks he wont. Then we took our results and put it into a bar graph! We can’t wait to see who was correct.
Inquiry into Language: Today we practiced for our in class speech competition tomorrow. Students were given partners and they practiced their speech with each other. They gave feedback using two stars and a wish, two things they loved about the speech and one wish that their partner could improve on for tomorrow. It was lovely to see everyone sharing great feedback. This gave me a great opportunity to go around and hear some of the speeches and give some feedback as well!
Agenda:
1. Read 15 minutes
2. In class speech competition tomorrow
3. Bring back re-registration package
4. Spelling test Friday
5. Spelling sentences due Friday
6. Casual day tomorrow
Unit of Inquiry: Today students learned about the importance of inventions. We discussed that without some inventions our lives would be very different, for example the airplane. We discussed that without the airplane it would be hard to travel to far away places. Planes also give us the option of flying somewhere in a shorter amount of time. Students wrote about why certain inventions are important to the world today!
Have a wonderful evening,
Love, Miss Gandy
