Happy Wonderful Chilly Wednesday!
Thank you again to everyone who came to support the Christmas Concert yesterday. We were so happy and exited to share our routine with everyone. I am very proud of all the children and their hard work.
Daily 5: Today students worked through their cursive books. We did a few pages in class and I walked around helping students with their letter formations and spacing.
Math: Together as a class we completed a few addition and subtraction questions on the board. We went over the appropriate steps involved in carrying and borrowing. Then students had to solve subtraction stories using their own strategies and complete two-digit subtraction using strategies to find encoded animal names.
Inquiry into Language: Today we reviewed the components of a journal. We went over that a journal must include a date, title, opening sentence, sentence starters and a closing sentence. We brainstormed ideas of what we would do if we could borrow Santa’s sleigh for the day! Then we put our ideas in sequence and began writing our journal. We are practicing stretching our sentences and including as much detail as possible.
Unit of Inquiry: Today for unit of inquiry I promised the children that they could decorate our class gingerbread house. We worked together and completed a masterpiece!
Then students finished organizing and labeling their suitcases.
Agenda:
Read 15 minutes
Review Spelling test Friday
Spelling sentences due Friday
Bring all Library books back to be returned before the holiday break
Superstore trip Friday- please wear dress uniform
Have a wonderful evening and stay warm!
Love, Miss Gandy
