Information regarding our Christmas Concert

Happy Team Work Thursday!
This morning Sparkles we found Sparkles sleeping in our Kleenex box. The children think she is very tired from flying back and forth to the North Pole!
(I forgot to take a picture toady)

Today someone lost their first tooth!! YAAY!

Math: Today we reviewed some double-digit addition. Students worked through an addition package. Then I introduced Subtraction and borrowing with students. We learned that when the number on the top is smaller than the number on the bottom we need to go to the neighbour in the tens column and ask to borrow one. Then we bring that extra one back to the number in the ones column.

Christmas Concert: Today we rehearsed our Christmas Concert in the gym. We went over spacing, singing loud but not yelling, expression and moving quietly on and off the stage.

Cursive: Today we worked through a few pages of cursive together! We went over the cursive alphabet and I walked around watching students write out cursive and helping them along the way!

French: No French today

Inquiry into Language: Together as a class we reviewed the components of a journal. We went over that a journal must include a date, title, opening sentence, sentence starters and a closing sentence. We brainstormed ideas of what we would do if we were the teacher for the day! Then we put our ideas in sequence and began writing our journal.

Agenda:
Read 15 minutes
Christmas concert next Tuesday
Christmas concert outfit brought in by Monday
Spelling test tomorrow
Spelling sentences due tomorrow
Trip form and money returned by December 9th

Unit of Inquiry: Today we brainstormed the importance of organization when we pack our suitcase. Some of us are going on a trip soon so this was a good time to talk about how and why we organize our luggage. We also went over the difference between our needs and wants when packing. Then students were given a template of a suitcase and had to organize everything they would take in their suitcase. For example, shirts on one section, pants in another section, toiletries all together etc.

Have a wonderful evening!

Love, Miss Gandy
