Inquiry into Language: Today students wrote about this term on the last page of their report card. They had to reflect on things that they learned, things that they want to improve on for next term and one thing they enjoyed doing. These will be attached the report cards that go home on Friday!

Math: Today students were introduced to our next unit, adding and subtracting two digit numbers. We went over adding and subtracting two-digit numbers and place value. We discussed that when adding double-digit numbers you always need to start in the 1’s column and then add the 10’s column. Please see anchor chart. Next students wrote addition and subtraction sentences about groups of items from a country fair. Students then practiced their mental math adding with a partner.

Inquiry into Language: Today students learned their words of the week and used them to work through activities in their spelling workout book.

Christmas Concert practice: Today we continued to practice our Christmas performance with Mr. Oliver! Continue practicing at home, it is coming along very nicely.

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
