Operation Christmas Child – I just wanted to say a big thank- you to everyone who sent in items for the Operation Christmas Child! We had so many lovely gifts we had to add more boxes! These are going to make some specials girls and boys very happy!

Inquiry into Language: Today students learned their words of the week and used them to complete various spelling tasks within their spelling workout books.

Math: Today we reviewed the names and worth of the different coins. We practiced adding coins and recording the total. Students had to show a given amount using a variety of coins. For example: use different coins to make a total of 98 cents. We went over different strategies to help us determine what coins to use.

Christmas Concert practice: Today we practiced our Christmas concert routine with Mr. Oliver! We went over spacing, lines and expressions. Please practice the song and actions at home. Here is the link to practice at home.

Unit of Inquiry: Students were given another opportunity to work on their dinosaur projects! They will have two more days to work on their projects before we start presenting. As some are finishing they are given the opportunity to go over their presentation with a friend.

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
