Tomorrow is casual day for those who have paid the $20.00 and bake sale day!

Inquiry into Language: Today we read Chapter 5 of our novel study ‘Dinosaurs before Dark and answered comprehension questions about what we had read. We retold what has happened in the previous chapter and made predictions about what we think is going to happen in the next chapter.

Math: Today, students learned about the names and worth of Canadian money. We reviewed as a class the difference between cents, dollars, bills and coins. Students also learned that 100 cents make $1.00. Then together as a class we went over different ways we could make $1.00. For example: 25 cents + 25 cents + 25 cents + 25 cents= 100 cents ($1.00). Students then worked through their money booklet identifying and matching the names and worth of different coins.

Unit of Inquiry: Today students were given time to finish their Triassic information poster. Tomorrow they will be learning about the next time period of dinosaurs known as the Jurassic age.

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
