Story Connection:  Today students listened to a Halloween story called ‘A Big Night in Booville’ and answered comprehension questions. Together as a class we went over the main characters, setting, author’s purpose and retold the story in sequence 2 pages at a time. Then we made personal connections to the story thinking bout what they story made us think about and how we could relate to the story.

Gym: Please see Ms. V’s blog at https://msvphysed.blogspot.com

Math: Today students reviewed the names and worth of Canadian money. Together as a class we played a game called ‘I have who has’. They needed to count the amount of coins they had and find their matching partner. Then students worked in their math workout books to determine the amount of coins they could use to buy each of the items by counting and skip counting the value of coins.

French: Please see Mlle. Jessica’s blog at http://mllehousja.blogspot.com

Inquiry into Language:  Today students reviewed how to create detailed sentences. We brainstormed as a class that adding adjectives, verbs, nouns will make sentences more detailed. We went over that answering our 5 W’s such as who, what, where, when and why will help us to stretch and add detail to our sentences. Students were given a sheet and using the 5 W’s added more detail. Next students were given boring sentences and in their journals they needed to rewrite them with more detail.

Agenda:
·       Read 15 minutes
·       Review spelling test Friday
·       Spelling sentences due Friday
·       Halloween Dress up day tomorrow

Unit of Inquiry: We moved to the next time period in the prehistoric age. We looked at different animals and plants that were around during the Jurassic period. We read about what it was like during this period and students wrote down some information about it. They started colouring a picture and cutting out different dinosaurs that were around during this time.

Have a wonderful evening

Love,

Miss Gandy
