Inquiry into Language: Today students wrote a list of the favourite toys. We went over he important components of a letter such as a date, title, bullets/ numbers and their ideas. Before we began writing together as a class we learned how to create a brainstorming bubble where we are able to jot our ideas down before we write the list.
Math: Today in math students reviewed passing of time by ordering pictures of trees and created a story using prompts such as
First ________ (bare)
Then ________ (buds)
Next________ (leaves)
Next________ (leaves)
Then_________ (apples)
Next children learned the length of a minute and an hour. Together as a class we gave examples of activities that take minutes or hours. For example, tying our shoe laces can take minutes and watching a movie can take an hour or more! Children then measured the duration of activities using a pendulum timer
Inquiry into Language: Today students listened to Chapters 2 and 3 of their novel study ‘Dinosaurs Before Dark’ and answered comprehension questions about what they had heard.
Agenda:
· Read 15 minutes
· Spelling test Friday
· Spelling sentences due Friday
· Math test signed and returned
· Trip form and money by October 25th
· Cursive 3 pages
Unit of Inquiry: Today students were introduced to the many different physical features of a dinosaur such as scales, horns, wings, shells, nails, short arms, long necks etc. Every student was given a fact card and had to identify the different physical features their dinosaur had. Then students began to create their own dinosaur based on the features we discussed as a class. Tomorrow we will have more time to finish these!
Thank you to my teacher helper for the day, Aidan!!
