Story Connection: This morning students continued to work on their comprehension skills. We read the ‘Subway Mouse by Robert Much. Before we began children made a prediction of what they thought was going to happen based on the title and pictures on the front. Every few pages we stopped and retold the events that were happening. After thought about what the book made us think about and the connections we had to the story. We also discussed the moral of the story and the author’s message!
Math: Today in math students used different strategies to complete addition and subtraction sentences. Then we reviewed placing numbers into ten frames and recognizing how many groups of ten we have, how many leftover and how many we have in total. For example: if the number is 16, I have 1 group of 10 and 6 left over.
Language: Today students wrote their weekly spelling test. Please sign and return these on Monday. After students finished they worked out identifying and correcting sentences with the correct punctuation. They either needed to include a period, question mark or exclamation mark to complete the sentence. They wrote these sentences in their journals!
