Another day filled with yummy treats!
Today we started the morning with our first Learner Profile Awards. This month we have been learning what it means to be an inquirer. We learned that someone who is an inquirer is curious about the world around them. They often ask many questions and look for answers to these questions. Our inquirer award was awarded to Aidan! Congratulations!
Cursive: This morning students worked in their cursive books reviewing the important elements of printing before starting the cursive component. We reviewed capital letters, lower cases, spaces between words, punctuation, formation of letters and writing in the appropriate size.
Math: Today students recognized doubles up to 20. We went over a doubles song that will help us remember and recognize doubles quickly. Then children had to draw to show doubled and record the double facts and use double facts to find answers to near doubles. When children finished their work they partnered up and went through double flash cards. When their partner showed them a flashcard they had to quickly give the correct double!
Language: Today we reviewed nouns, adjectives and verbs. We went over that adjectives are words that describe a noun. Using our 5 senses help us to think of describing words. Today students had to think of adjectives for popcorn! Then they identified different nouns and adjectives in sentences.
Agenda: Today during agenda children reviewed the components of list writing: date, title, numbers or bullets and ideas and thoughts. We wrote or agenda in list format.
· Read 15 minutes
· Spelling test Friday
· Spelling sentences due Friday
· Bring in resources if needed for summative project- please look in agenda to review summative
· Casual day form and money
Unit of Inquiry: Today we had another day to work on our summative projects! I have told the children that I do not mind some support from parents at home. If parents want to help children brainstorm ideas or guide them when writing the rules that is fine! The making and presenting of the game will be done completely by the children! I have started to see some very imaginative games being created.
**** I have sent home in their agendas what they have been working on tonight to show you and to receive some suggestions if needed!
Thank you to my teacher helper for the day, Orion
Have a wonderful evening,
Love,
Miss Gandy
