Happy Fantastic Terry Fox Friday!

We started the morning with our Terry Fox run! Thank you to everyone who raised money or brought in a toonie for Terry. We were very proud to run for such a great cause!

Math:Students created patterns using different attributes. They used size, colour and shape to create their own pattern. They also wrote out a pattern in words and a partner had to draw that pattern.

Inquiry into Language:Today children wrote their spelling test! Please sign and return the test on Monday. The new words for next week are on my blog if you wish to start working on the sentences this weekend!

Agenda: Students were sent home with their agenda, every day they will write out the important dates and homework inside it. Parents are being asked to check agendas nightly and sign off beside my initials.

Responsibility Chart

Unit of Inquiry:Today students picked a responsibility that they will start doing at home on a daily basis and wrote a letter to their parents stating they will take on that responsibility. If you see your child completing that responsibility please can you send me a picture of them doing this responsibility and fill in their responsibility chart.

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
