Reading Buddies:Today we met our reading buddies from Ms. Foti’s class. They read us a story and we answered any questions they asked about the book. We will be meeting with them every day 5 in our schedule.

Math:Today students were introduced to attributes and the pattern core within a pattern. We discussed that a pattern can have 6 different attributes such as shape, size, colour, direction, numbers and letters. We practiced creating a pattern on the board as a class using two different attributes. For example: shape and colour. Then students worked in their math books making and recording patterns with two changing attributes.

Inquiry into Language:Today students reviewed the components of a complete sentence. We reviewed names of people, pets and places, holidays, days of the week, months of the year, the word ‘I’ and at the the beginning of a sentence all need a capital letter. Students worked on identifying and correcting sentences to include the appropriate capitalization and punctuation.

Agenda: Students were sent home with their agenda, every day they will write out the important dates and homework inside it. Parents are being asked to check agendas nightly and sign off beside my initials.

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
