Spelling Bee packages and lists were sent home. Please use the list to study for the in-class competition. The Grade 1 in-class Spelling Bee will take place on Thursday, April 4th.

Arts Night lyrics have been placed inside the children agenda. Please continue to practice at home!

Today was popcorn day! Some of us enjoyed a yummy bag of popcorn. Tomorrow is ice cream day. We also had another day of pie a teacher in the face….. today the lucky teacher was….......... ME!!!!!!!

Math: Today students reviewed choosing a strategy to solve a problem. Then as a class we reviewed showing a 2-digit number 2 different ways. We also practiced solving addition and subtraction problems using place value mats. We checked our answers using the column method!

Inquiry into Language:Today students wrote a pre-assessment for our new language focus ‘letter writing’.

Unit of Inquiry:Today students created a piece of art made from assembling small pieces of coloured construction paper known as Mosaic Art.

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
