Happy Valentine’s Day!

Some of us went and made some yummy looking cookies with the SJA Parent Guild !

Math: Today students worked in groups using clues about faces, edges and vertices to identify 3-D solids.

Jump Rope for Hope:Today students took part in Jump Rope for Heart. Students were jumping, skipping and running for all the money they raised from family and friends. Here are a few snapshots of us in action! Way to go all

Inquiry into Language:Today students wrote their spelling test! Please sign and return them on Monday

After we finished our spelling test, children wrote a journal entry for Valentines Day. The topic sentence was ‘If I wanted to ask someone to be my Valentine, I would...’. They had to use the correct punctuation, sentence starters and use detailed sentences. I was blown away by these journal entries and will be hanging them outside our classroom for others to read.

Then, as a class we shared everything that our hearts are full of. We thought about our favourite things such as colours, activities and food. We talked about how special our family members are to us, how we love them and are very grateful for everything they do. After children wrote a few sentences about what their heart is filled with and drew these things inside a heart!

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
