Mr. Foster’s Farmers Market and Ms. Gandy’s Groceries
As part of our summative assessment the grade one classes have decided to open a market to complement our organization unit. The market will include fruits, vegetables, drinks and other healthy snacks. It will be held in rooms 25, 28 and 29. The market will take place all day Thursday, January. 24th and Friday, January. 25th. All profits made will be donated to the Sick Kid’s Hospital.

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend! Look at all these children organizing over the weekend, Miss Gandy is so impressed

French: We started the day with Mlle Jessica. Please see her blog at http://mllehousja.blogspot.com

Music: Today we had our first lesson with our new music teacher Mrs. Mcmillan www.mrsmcmillanmusic.blogspot.com

Math: Today we reviewed addition and subtracting, adding and subtracting double digit numbers and sentence stories.

Gym: Please see Ms.Yustin’s blog at https://sjaayustin.blogspot.com

Inquiry into Language:Today students worked on their words of the week. Students used their spelling words to complete various tasks in the spelling workout book. Once students completed their spelling, I had them work on the opening sentence of their book retell. We reviewed that this needs to be one sentence that catches the eye of the audience.

Agenda:
Math test Thursday
Math review due Thursday
Spelling test Friday
Spelling sentences due Friday (we are working on making these sentences detailed)
Book retell presentation
Market January 24 and 25

Unit of Inquiry:Today students presented what they organized at home. Before we presented we were reminded of our presentation skills such as loud voice, eye contact and correct body posture. Once the presenter was finished we asked them questions such as ‘How long did it take to organize your fridge’? And ‘Why do you think it is important to organize your fridge’? Thank you to the parents who sent pictures of your child organizing, they will be going up on my action board soon!

Thank you to my teacher helper Aarav, you are always such a great help!

Have a wonderful evening,
Miss Gandy
