SK -------------------> GRADE 1
What a busy and fun day we had today in Grade One! It was so lovely to meet all the SK children in my class!

French: We started the day with Mlle Jessica. Please see her blog at http://mllehousja.blogspot.com

Music: Next we had music with our new music teacher Ms. MacMillan!

Math: Today students counted skittles and recorded the information on a bar graph! They first organized the skittles by colours and coloured in the squares according to the amount. We even got to EAT them once we were finished!

Gym: Please see Ms.Yustin’s blog at https://sjaayustin.blogspot.com
After gym my class normally cools down with mediation. We listen to music for 3 minutes to refocus our brain so we are the best learners we can be for the next lesson!
They did such a good job sitting on the carpet and meditating! I was very proud of them.

Inquiry into Language: Students were introduced to cursive writing. We talked about the difference between cursive writing and normal printing. We noticed that cursive letters are joined in a word whereas normal printing is not. They were given a lined piece of paper where they got to try writing their own name in cursive. Next children worked on a cursive writing sheet.

Unit of Inquiry: Today students were introduced to the term 'organization' (what does it mean?, how do we become organized?). We brainstormed as a class (using think, pair and share) why it is important to be organized. Then children organized their own fridge by cutting out different types of foods in a flyer.

It was a wonderful day! The SK’S will be all set for Grade One in no TIME!
Have a wonderful evening,

Miss Gandy
