WELCOME BACK!
I hope everyone had a lovely and restful break! We are so happy to be back into the school routine (well at least Miss Gandy is…

Today we welcomed our new class friend… Austin!

French: We started the day with Mlle Jessica. Please see her blog at http://mllehousja.blogspot.com

Math:Today students reviewed addition and subtracting double digits. We reviewed the different rules for carrying and borrowing. For example- if the bigger number is on the bottom we need to go next door and ask for one more. Then we did some examples as a class on the board and worked on an adding and subtraction worksheet
Library:Today we went to see Ms. Hayward in the library!

Gym: Please see Ms.Yustin’s blog at https://sjaayustin.blogspot.com

Agenda:
Year ahead day- please see inside of agenda for teacher placement
Pick a story for book retell (if not done so)
Read 15 minutes
Market January 24thand 25th

Inquiry into Language:Students were introduced to the expectations for their story retell. We went over what the opening sentence should consist of to catch the audience’s attention. We brainstormed some examples so children could understand that an opening sentence leads the rest of their retell.
Unit of Inquiry:Today students discussed the market that will be taking place at the end of January. They started making signs for our market and discussed the four different food items we will be selling such as fruits, vegetables, snacks and drinks. On Friday they will be deciding what group they want to be in and picking one thing they will bring in for the market. If you are unable to bring in an item, please let me know ahead of time.

Thank you to my teacher helper Zayn, you are always such a great help
Have a wonderful evening,

Miss Gandy J
