World Kindness Day is taking place on Tuesday, November 13th. Students are asked to give a handprint for every act of kindness they perform. For $2.00, students can have an extra casual day.

Math:Today in math we reviewed the big and short hand on the clock. We went over counting in our 5’s the minutes on the clock. Next I would think of a time and tell the children, they would then show me that time on the clock. After they worked in partners practicing different times on the clock. To finish math we played a game ‘What Time is it Mr. Wolf’. I would tell the children a time and they would show me it on the clock, if they were correct they would take a step forward. The children got all the way to Mr. Wolf before she yelled dinnertime.

Daily 5: Today in daily five we got to choose if we wanted to read a book to ourselves or read a book to someone. After we finished the book students had to write in their journals listing the title, their favourite part, what the story was about and who were the main characters.

Inquiry into Language: Today children wrote their weekly spelling test. I picked 10 random words out of all the words they have learnt so far. Once completed children reviewed what a verb is and how to use them in a sentence. Students had a variety of sentences where they needed to underline the verb.

Unit of Inquiry:Today children started their picture of the dinosaur they wrote about! They were reminded that they needed to draw the dinosaur based on how they described it through their writing. We also will be adding a picture of their scary dinosaur face to their drawing!

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
