Day 39
Happy Halloween! Here are a few pictures of our amazing costumes today!
Math:Today in math we went over the clock! We learned that the small hand tells us the hour and the big hand tells us the minute. Next we counted in our 5’s to show the different minutes. Then the children worked on some Halloween activities that asked them to tell the time on an analog clock!
After we finished math we practiced our handwriting and coloured in some haunted houses!
Inquiry into Language: First we read one of my favourite Halloween books called ‘Boo!” By Robert Munch! This book had the children laughing and excited for trick-or-treating.
Next we learnt what the word adjective means. We discussed that it is a word that describes something. I drew a pumpkin and had children think of all different adjectives we could use to describe a pumpkin. I reminded children to think of their senses. What does it look like? What does it smell like? What does it feel like and What does it taste like?
After children created their own monsters! First they needed to think of adjectives for their monster then use those to draw it!
Agenda:
Spelling sentences due Friday
Review spelling words
Happy Halloween
Unit of Inquiry:Today keep in theme of our dinosaur unit, children had a variety of Halloween dinosaurs to colour. Children brought these pictures home so look out for them.
To finish the day we had a house game! Miss Gandy had the privilege of being wrapped like a mummy in toilet paper. The first house to finish wrapping the teacher won! Unfortunately Zeta won but Theta was a close second! Way to go J
I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe night trick-or-treating! HAPPY HALLOWEEN
Miss Gandy
