Day 38

Happy Tuesday! Finally some sunshine J

French: We started the day with Mlle Jessica. Please see her blog at http://mllehousja.blogspot.com

Math:Today children completed their pre-assessment for our new math unit, time, temperature and money. Please do not worry this is not a test, it is simply for me to see what the children already know and areas we need to focus on to develop their understanding. After children completed the test we worked in our workout books.

Students were starting to understand and learn the passing of time. Students looked at the drawing of trees in the book. They numbered the drawings in order they happen. Students then wrote a story about the drawing using prompts.
Example: First____ (bare)
               Then____ (buds)
Music: Next we had a music lesson with Mr. Flower. Please see his blog at http://flowermusicsja.blogspot.com

Gym: Please see Ms.Yustin’s blog at https://sjaayustin.blogspot.com

Inquiry into Language: Today we read Chapter 6 of our novel study ‘Dinosaurs Before Dark’. After we finished the chapter children retold me what happened in sequence using as much detail as possible. Next as a class we answered comprehension questions about the chapter. Today we went over detailed sentences and how we could answer the questions using more detail. We remember that part of the question needs to be in our answer!

Agenda:
Spelling sentences due Friday
Review spelling words
Halloween clothes tomorrow
Bake sale tomorrow
Spelling test Friday
Guy Fawkes Poem- Read over

Unit of Inquiry:Today students created a writing story of “If I was a dinosaur I would be a _______ osaurus”. They had to think of the different features they would have if they were a dinosaur. The food they would want to eat (omnivore, carnivore, herbivore) and what they would like to do. Today we started our rough copy!

Thank you to my teacher helper Diyya; you are always a great help!
Have a wonderful evening, Miss Gandy J
