Day 37
Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing weekend despite the crummy weather.
Just a few reminders for the busy week ahead…
· Bake sale tomorrow
· Casual day tomorrow
· Halloween costume Wednesday
Math:Today children wrote their post assessment on number relationships. I am so incredibly proud of the children. They showed me everything they have learned over the past six weeks! The math assessments will be marked and sent home tomorrow. They need to be signed and returned the following day.
Inquiry into Language: This week children will be doing a review session in language. Their spelling test book will be sent home to review during the whole week. They are to review every word they have been tested on since the beginning of the year. I will be randomly choosing 10 of them for the test on Friday.
They are not being asked to write 30 sentences but rather choose any 10 of the past spelling words to rewrite a sentence. I encouraged children to choose a word that they got wrong on previous tests.

After we finished working in our workbooks we started to review nouns. Children were able to remember that a noun is a person, place or thing. They even shared some examples as a class. Next I introduced the word ‘verb’. I got children to think, pair and share their idea of what a verb could be. We discussed that a verb is a words that describes something we do.
Next I had children stand up on their feet to practice some doing words! We had different verbs such as run, walk, skip and hop. We practiced doing these words as a class and sorted different nouns and verbs.
Agenda:
Spelling sentences due Friday
Review spelling words
Halloween clothes Wednesday
Bake sale tomorrow
Spelling test Friday
Unit of Inquiry:Today we caught up on some unfinished work! We finished our Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous time period timelines.
Have a wonderful evening, Miss Gandy J
