Math:Today in math we started a class review package that covers everything from doubles, addition questions, finding patterns in a 100 chart, ten frames and word problems. Some children who felt confident at doing the review on their own sat with some other friends to complete it. They used their 3 B’s (Brain, Buddy and Boss), if they were stuck. Those children who wanted to work with Miss Gandy sat on the carpet to go through question by question. We will carry on finishing the review tomorrow!
Inquiry into Science with Language Focus: We are going to be starting our Science Fair topic shortly, so today I introduced students to some of the scientific vocabulary that they will using. Children learnt words such as hypothesis, observation, conclusion, conducting experiment and reporting results. Then we put the words to the test!
I partnered the children up and asked them what they think would happen to their body if they did 20 jumping jacks?
I got children to write a hypothesis (I think that…), conduct the experiment (20 jumping jacks) make an observation (what did they see happening), record the results(This is what happened to ____ after they did 20 jumping jacks), draw a conclusion (I learned that...) and ask a question.
Spelling test tomorrow

Spirit day October 31st

Unit of Inquiry: Today we moved to the Jurassic time period which occurred about 230 million years ago! First we read a book about what the Jurassic period was like. We noticed the differences between the Triassic and Jurassic period. There was more water, trees, plants and volcanoes started to appear. After we discussed the Jurassic time period we created our timeline and plotted the dinosaurs that roamed during this period on the timeline!
Thank you to my teacher helper was Kai, you are always such a great help!
Have a wonderful evening,
Miss Gandy J
