Day 22

HAPPY International Day! It was so lovely to see everyone representing Spain today! What a wonderful day it was J

Inquiry into Language: Next we had our weekly spelling test. After children finished their spelling test they were able to pick a book from the reading corner and read for 15 minutes.

Next we sat and discussed our summative project! We brainstormed games and how we could change the rules. We also thought of different names we could have for certain games!

Math:Today in math we practiced our mental math. Counting in 2’s, 3’s and 5’s and some quick addition and subtracting!

After gym we set up our classroom for visitors coming to see our country Spain. We all thought about what we had learnt during our research and got ready to share with our visitors.

We first got to tour the other classrooms in the school to see the countries they were learning about. We were SO impressed with all the different pictures, props and writing about the different countries. We learned so much about places we had never even heard of!!

I want to thank everyone for their contribution of all the different food, I really appreciate it and it made the day that much more enjoyable for the children! I hope everyone has a lovely long weekend and Happy Thanksgiving.

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
