Day 9

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend J

French: We started our morning with Mlle Jessica. Please see her blog at http://mllehousja.blogspot.com

Math:This week in math we will be reviewing attributes, pattern cores and creating patterns using 2 changing attributes. Today we went through making patterns using a given set of numbers and creating patterns using different attributes. We reviewed the different attributes we can use such as colour, shape, number, size, thickness, position and letter. Children are encouraged to continue doing their math review in preparation for the math test this Friday! I am very impressed with children being able to show me everything they have learnt in our patterning unit.

Library: Today we visited the library, we were able to pick books were interested in and read them. We even got story time with Ms. Hayward!

Gym: Please see Ms. Yustin’s blog at https://sjaayustin.blogspot.com

Inquiry into Language:Today we wrote down our new spelling words (please find them in the front of the their agenda). We then worked in our spelling workbooks spelling words that begin and end with h, m, p, or k.

Agenda:
Welcome BBQ September 20th
Math Review booklet to be completed by Friday September 21st
Spelling Test Friday
Spelling Sentences due Friday
Read 15 minutes
Terry Fox pledge form
** I have sent home the spelling tests from this Friday so they could share with you, I ask if you could please sign and return tomorrow.

UOI:Today we talked about short-term goals. We used ‘think, pair and share’ where children thought about what the word ‘goal’ meant and shared their idea with their partner. Then e shared these ideas with the class. At first we thought the word ‘goal’ meant when we score in soccer or a different sport. But by the end of our discussion we were able to see that a goal is something we want to achieve or something we really want to do by a certain time. Today we introduced short-term goals.

In our journals children came up with three different short-term goals they would like to achieve. For example; finishing my homework by this Thursday, learning my spelling words by Thursday or finishing my chapter book by next Wednesday

After we finished, some children began to practice writing their names in cursive in their journal books.

Today my teacher helper was Nimrata! Thank you for being such a great help J

Have a wonderful night
