Day 8

Happy Friday J

We started our morning with French with Mlle Jessica. Please see her blog at http://mllehousja.blogspot.com

Math:Today in math children focused on creating patterns with a given set of numbered objects. We worked together in our tables to find how we can make a pattern using 9 red, 3 green and 6 blue beads. It took us awhile but eventually every table was able to create the pattern independently without my help! We then worked in our workbooks and completed different questions.

* please note math review sheets were sent home today, they are due back next Friday. The math test will be September 21st

Inquiry into Language:Today children had their spelling tests, after we finished we worked in our cursive writing books! Our cursive writing is coming along very nicely.

Responsibility Promise

UOI:Today we talked a bit more about responsibility. Students recognized what they are responsible for in their lives. They created a mind map in their journals of the things they can be responsible for.

After we finished, children completed their responsibility promise. This promise is about picking one responsibility to do around the house and promising to stick by it. I am asking parents to send in a photo of your child if you see him or her keeping up with their responsibility!!

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
