Day 10

FrenchWe started our morning with Mlle Jessica. Please see her blog at http://mllehousja.blogspot.com

Music: Next we had an exciting music lesson. Please see Mr. Flower’s blog at flowermusicsja.blogspot.com

Math: This week in math we will be reviewing attributes, pattern cores and creating patterns using 2 changing attributes. Today children made a pattern using 2 changing attributes and described their patterns using letters and numbers! They did all of this on their own and I was so impressed!

Next we reviewed rules for sorting. Children worked on 2 different activities that allowed them to show me what they understand about sorting patterns. Tomorrow we are going to continue reviewing this so we can do this activity all by ourselves. Children are encouraged to continue doing their math review in preparation for the math test this Friday!

Gym: Please see Ms. Yustin’s blog at https://sjaayustin.blogspot.com

After gym we had a mediation session for 5 minutes. We cooled down after our exciting and active gym class with deep breathing and calming music.
Inquiry into Language:Today we focused on telling sentences. As a class we thought about what a telling sentence could be and came up with different examples. I gave the children our class plant and everyone had to come up with one telling sentence about this plant. For example: ‘this plant is green,‘this plant has soil’ and ‘this plant will grow’.

We know that a telling sentence starts with a capital and ends with a period. Then we worked on adding missing words to make the sentence a complete telling sentence.

Agenda:
Welcome BBQ September 20th
Math Review booklet to be completed by Friday September 21st
Spelling Test Friday
Spelling Sentences due Friday
Read 15 minutes
Terry Fox pledge form

UOI:Today we talked about long-term goals. We discussed the difference between long-term and short-term goals and why long-term goals are also important. We came up with a few examples as a class such as ‘learning to swim by next year’ and ‘going to Disneyland in 5 years’.
Next we wrote 2-3 long- term goals in our journals!

After we finished, children began to practice writing names of the children in our class in cursive. I’m so happy with their progress so far!

Today my teacher helper was Kai! Thank you for being such a great help J

Have a wonderful night
