Day 5
What a great day of learning J
We started this morning with French with Mlle Jessica. Please see her blog at http://mllehousja.blogspot.com
Math:Today in math we continued discussing our unit on patterning. We reviewed making patterns and finding the pattern core. Children were paired and asked to create a pattern for their partner. Then they were to tell their partner the pattern core. I was very impressed to see the teamwork with everyone on the carpet. We helped our partners with the finding the pattern cores. Children then worked in their math books listing the changing attributes in the patterns, then they had to circle the pattern core. To help us we used our attributes chart paper!
Daily 5: Today in daily 5 we focused on growth and fixed mindsets, because it is very important for children to know that it is okay to make mistakes. Our brain is constantly growing and we need to build confidence in what we do through the way we think. We had a class discussion about fixed and growth mindset. For example a fixed thought would be ‘I’m not good at this', I had children then think of how can make this a growth thought. We came up with ‘I can get better at that’. Children then had to match certain sentences with either fixed or growth mindset.

** Please note that Agendas and books that are sent home every night need to come into school the next day. I do not want to have children leaving their books and agendas at home.
Inquiry into Language:Today in language we worked in our School Recipe Book, we talked about goals for the school year. Children came up with some very good answers. They also filled out different sections, which was all about them. They got to share their favourite colour, pet, food and hobby.
UOI:We continued exploring our topic on rules and responsibilities. We had a discussion on what our most important rules was to us again. Then we brainstormed what would make a good poster for our most important rule. We came up with bright colours, neat writing, shapes, pictures and different information like (why, what and when). They worked on their rough copy of their poster and tomorrow we will move onto the final good copy of their poster.
To finish the day we had a dance party because the children worked so hard for me today! They moved around to the music and froze when the music stopped. Everyones dance moves were out of this world!
Have a great evening!
Miss Gandy
