Day 18

HAPPY FRIYAY!

Wonderful to see everyone in their orange shirt today!! Here is a picture of the ‘every child matters link’ we made as a school

Music: Next we had an exciting music lesson with Mr. Flower. Please see his blog at http://flowermusicsja.blogspot.com

Math:In math today we started reviewing the spelling of our numbers 1-20. The children helped me spell the numbers and we put them on chart paper. Next they had a go at spelling them on their own! I will be sending these sheets home on Monday just for children to review.

After we worked in pairs and our partner gave us a number that we had to spell. We had to cover and check. Cover the word and try and spell it to our partner. After we practiced our counting in 2’s and 5’s.

Inquiry into Language:Children had the weekly spelling test; once we finished they completed two pages in their cursive book.

Agenda:

Research about Spain due Monday

International day October 4^th(parent visit 2:30-3:15) I am still looking for any Spanish food either made or bought ! It would be so appreciative

Unit of Inquiry: Today we got to share our special someone photo. The children got up in front of the class and shared the name of their special someone and why they are special to them. Before we began we went over our presentation skills such as loud voice, eye contact, being respectful, listening and standing straight and still. It was so nice to hear all the special people in the children’s’ lives!

At the end of the day Ms. Hayward visited us to read a story about orange shirt day and why this day is very important!

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
