Day 12

French: We started our morning with Mlle Jessica. Please see her blog at http://mllehousja.blogspot.com

Music: Next we had an exciting music lesson. Please see Mr. Flower’s blog at flowermusicsja.blogspot.com

Math: For our last review session before our math test, we had a carousel of patterning activities. Our stations involved finding the pattern core, making a pattern with a given set of numbers, creating/describing patterns using letters and numbers, and lastly a sorting station. Children rotated from station to station and reviewed everything for their test tomorrow!

Gym: Please see Ms. Yustin’s blog at https://sjaayustin.blogspot.com
After gym we had a mediation our daily 5 minute mediation session

Inquiry into Language:Today we reviewed what a telling sentence meant and some examples. Then as a class we completed telling sentences in our language book.

After we looked at what an asking sentence is. Children used ‘think, pair and share’ to talk about what they thought a question sentence was. We know now that a question sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a question mark.

I had children pass around our class plant and give me a question sentence about it. We came up with some great sentences. For example: why does it have soil? Why do we need plants like this? Why does this plant need water to grow?

Agenda:
BBQ tonight
Math Review booklet to be completed by tomorrow and returned
Spelling Test tomorrow
Spelling Sentences due tomorrow
Read 15 minutes
Terry Fox pledge form

UOI:Today we introduced the term ‘relationships’ and looked at the special people we have in our lives. We went around the circle and shared one special person to us. We talked about how often with relationships come different responsibilities and how they can change over time. We came up with an example of having a younger brother; our responsibility might be to help him get ready for school.

We started decorating our ‘Relationship Booklet’ and will continue this tomorrow!

***We will be asking students to bring in one photo of someone special in their lives and they will be sharing with the class why this person is special to them.

Today my teacher helper was Devan! Thank you for being such a great help J

It was wonderful to see and talk with many of you tonight at the BBQ, thank you for coming!

Have a wonderful evening,

Miss Gandy
