Day 11
French: We started our morning with Mlle Jessica. Please see her blog at http://mllehousja.blogspot.com
Reflection with Math focus: Today children worked in their math journals filling in ten frames for the days at school so far (one dot per day). Then we recorded the weather for today and predicted what it's going to be tomorrow. We discussed the word predict as many children did not know the meaning.
Math: We revisited our sorting activities and tried to do them by ourselves. We went over sorting rules as a class reminding the children that the middle item has to have something from both circles.
After we worked in pairs creating different patterns using 2 changing attributes. We identified the pattern core in our partner’s pattern and labeled their attributes. Next we gave our partner a given set of shapes and they had to create a pattern that repeats, using only the shapes given! It was great to see such teamwork and encouragement Children are encouraged to continue doing their math review in preparation for the math test this Friday!
After gym we had a mediation session for 5 minutes. We focused on our breathing and put our brain back in learning mode. I think this will become a daily thing for our class as it calms us right down after gym and we are ready to work again!
Agenda:
1. Welcome BBQ September 20th
2. Math Review booklet to be completed by Friday September 21st
3. Spelling Test Friday
4. Spelling Sentences due Friday

Unit Of Inquiry: Today we talked about different responsibilities we have been doing around the house and in school. We brainstormed as a class different ones that are important to us and wrote them on the board. Then children created a Responsibility Flower. They had to write down different responsibilities on the petals and put the pieces of the flower together! Then we decorated with tissue paper! Children took their time and created a wonderful piece of art that will remind us of our responsibilities.
After we completed our flowers children were able to finish their ‘ Recipe for a Great School Year’ booklet!
Today my teacher helper was Zane! Thank you for being such a great help J
Thank you again to everyone who has sent a picture of their child fulfilling their responsibility. Our Action wall is growing everyday!
Have a wonderful Wednesday night,
Miss Gandy
