SJA Summer Camp

With summer around the corner, what better way for your children to spend the summer but here at SJA! SJA summer camp registrations were sent home earlier this year. We are offering 7 weeks of summer fun with a minimum of 3 excursions per week. There is lunch and snack options and before and after care available. Register before it is too late! Math: Today students reviewed multiplication. They used repeated addition and multiplication to count groups of marbles and solve a problem. As a class we practiced and recorded skip-counting patterns on a 100-chart. Tomorrow children will be introduced to division.

Inquiry into Language:Today students wrote a letter to their dad for Father’s day about why their dad is the best dad! They needed to include all the components of letter writing such as date, greeting, body, closing and signature. They were reminded to give reasons for their opinion!

Unit of Inquiry: Today we continued to work on our IB Binders; we picked our best work, what we worked the hardest on and work we think we could have improved on.

We also started to create our Father’s day craft which will be sent home at the end of the week!

**Today binders and workout books were sent home with my students! Black shoes were also sent home and do not need to be brought back as we are finished with uniforms until September!

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
