Happy Think about it Thursday!
Today was a very busy day as we had Ms. Brasil’s students join us for the day!
We also just wanted to say a big congratulation to one of our classmates who has moved onto the next karate belt! We are VERY proud of you!
French: We started the day with Mlle. Jessica. Please see her blog at http://mllehousja.blogspot.com
Math: Today students reviewed the terms mass and capacity. We reviewed that mass is the amount something weighs and capacity is how much something can hold. We brainstormed different measuring tools to determine something’s mass or capacity. We thought of balance scales and measuring cups. Today children had to compare and measure the masses of several objects from the classroom.
Inquiry into Language:Today we read the last two chapters of our novel study ‘Afternoon on the Amazon’. Then students had to write me an opinion letter about their favourite part of the book. They needed to include all components of a letter such as date, greeting, body, closing and signature. They needed to include 3-detailed reasons to support their opinion.
Agenda:
Spelling test next Friday
Spelling sentences due next Friday
Math test signed and returned
Read 15 minutes/ comprehension
Please bring back any library books
Summative presentations June 3rd/5th
Presentation:Today we had a presentation from two grade six students about stranger danger! They presented a very creative, engaging and child friendly presentation about the dangers we need to look out for and the precautions we can take towards staying safe!
Oakwood Performance: Today we had the privilege to go and watch Oakwood’s Got Talent, where the different students were able to showcase their different talents! The performance was AMAZING and my students really enjoyed it. Congratulations Oakwood teachers and performers on a job well done!
Have a wonderful evening and GO RAPTORS GO!
Love,
Miss Gandy
