A note from Ms. Hayward

A great soccer opportunity coming this July

Happy Wonderful Monday!
This morning we found Joy tangled up in the Christmas lights!

I was so happy to come in this morning after being sick on Friday that we WON the golden broom! Our clean up crew has been reminding us daily to keep our cubbies clean and our hard work has paid off!!

Math:Today we started the day with math. We reviewed double digit subtraction with borrowing. We did some examples as a class on the board. If there is more on the floor we need to go next-door and ask for 10 more! For example;                      95
                                                                                     - 8
We worked through different subtraction word problems and children had to think of on their own. It is important we are looking for key words such as altogether, more, add and take away to help us with the steps we need to follow! After children finished they completed Christmas subtraction questions independently.
Daily 5: Today for daily 5 we read a story ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ and then after we started to decorate our door for the contest on Thursday! Every child made their own reindeer and ornaments for the teacher reindeer!

Gym: Please see Ms.Yustin’s blog at https://sjaayustin.blogspot.com

Agenda:
Spelling test Thursday
Spelling sentences due Thursday
Spirit day Thursday
Bake sale next Wednesday and Thursday
Trip next Wednesday
Read 15 minutes
Library books returned this week

Inquiry into Language: Today students learned their spelling words for the week and worked in their workout books.

Unit of Inquiry:Today students started to design their own toy store. We brainstormed as a class different things we can find at a toy store and how we can organize everything. We discussed why it is important to organize and what the consequences could be if we didn’t.

Thank you to my teacher helper Sianna; you are always such a great help!

Have a wonderful evening, Miss Gandy J
