A note from our Librarian, Ms. Hayward:
Happy Thursday!
This morning we found Joy counting our coins and reminding us to review for our upcoming math test!
Math:Today we reviewed quarter to, quarter after and half past. Children had different activities that required them to write the time independently and write either quarter after, quarter to or half past in words. Keep reviewing this at home because some of us are still finding this tricky!
After we had a daily meditation to cool down from an exciting gym class!
Agenda:
Christmas clothes by Monday
Read 15 minutes
Spelling sentences due tomorrow
Spelling test tomorrow
Trip form and money
Math test Tuesday
Math review due Monday
Inquiry into Language: Today we wrote a journal entry as a class. Before we started we went over that a journal needs an introduction sentence that tells us about what the journal is going to be about. It starts our writing off! We went over four sentence starters that we needed to use in our journal such as First, Next, Then and Finally!
We also discussed that to write a successful journal we need to have…
1. Date
2. Introduction sentence
3. Sentence starters
4. Periods, capitals
5. Detailed sentences
Here is the final product of our class journal about a summer day!
Unit of Inquiry: Today we finished discussing what we learnt about dinosaurs. We filled in the remaining section on our KWL grid.
After, I introduced our next Unit of Inquiry topic; how we organize ourselves. I asked the children what they thought organization means and how we can be organized. These are some of their ideas
We also thought of different places that have to be organized in the community such as a grocery store and library.
Thank you to Zane my teacher helper, you are always such a great help!
Have a wonderful evening,
Miss Gandy J
