This Monday is Year Ahead Day. My class will be spending the day in Ms. Hughes classroom to experience some of the exiting things to look forward to in Grade 2.

Inquiry into Language: Today we wrote our spelling test! Please sign and return them on Monday!

Math: Today students were introduced to their next unit 3-D Geometry. We went over the different shapes that we will be learning about and the terms ‘faces’, ‘edges’ and ‘vertices’. Then students had to identify shared attributes for groups of objects.

Inquiry into Language: There was no French today so students wrote a journal about what they would do if they were stuck inside the school because of a snowstorm.

They were reminded to use the components of journal writing such as…

1. Date

2. Introduction sentence

3. First, Then, Next, Lastly

4. Periods, capitals

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
