Dear SJA Lower School (JK to Grade 6) Families,
An annual event in the Lower School is our highly anticipated Year-Ahead Day. Students look forward to this fun tradition at St. Jude’s Academy where they get to skip ahead and spend the day in the next grade. Teachers will let students know who their Year-Ahead Day teacher is at the end of day on Friday, February 7, 2020.
Please note that the placement for this day does not indicate class placement for the following school year.
Sincerely, The SJA Lower School Team

Happy Magnificent Monday!
I hope everyone had a lovely weekend! We have chosen our top 6 students from Grade 1 to compete in the auditorium on Thursday. Congratulations to… Finley, Neel, Elijah, Rohan, Pawan and William. We are very proud of everyone and all their hard work and we are very excited to support everyone this coming Thursday.

Gym: Please see Ms. V’s blog at https://msvphysed.blogspot.com

Math: Today students reviewed for their upcoming math test on data management and probability. Students needed to then answer different probability questions about the chances of landing on certain numbers or colours.
Inquiry into Language:  Today students learned their new words of the week. Students then used their spelling words to complete various tasks within the spelling workout book.
Daily Five: Music was cancelled today so we spent that time slot decorating our buckets. The other day we discussed ways we can be bucket fillers and fill other students buckets with happiness. We each have our own bucket now and when we see students being kind to us we will fill their bucket and our bucket with a cotton ball! This is a great way to promote kind words and actions in the classroom.
Agenda:
1. Read 15 minutes
2. Bring back re-registration package
3. Spelling test Friday
4. Spelling sentences due Friday
5. Math test Wednesday
6. Math review due Wednesday

French: Please see Mlle. Jessica’s blog at http://mllehousja.blogspot.com

Unit of Inquiry: Today we learned about the inventor Henry Ford. We watched a great video that showed the development of the mass production of the automobile and the assembly line. We learned that no one wanted to buy the automobile he created but he did not give up. He then created a racecar to try to draw attention to his ideas and inventions. We also discussed how he created the Ford Motor Company that we see today. We then used our knowledge to answer comprehension questions!
Have a wonderful evening,

Love, Miss Gandy
