Happy Magnificent Monday!
Happy Chinese New Year!
Today we started the morning with the Grade 2’s presenting the Traditional Chinese New Year Dragon Dance during our assembly. They did such a wonderful job! We also spent some time in class sharing what some of us did for Chinese New Year over the weekend.
We also went over this morning the hygienic way to sneeze, cough and wash our hands. We went over the importance of washing our hands so all the germs can be removed! We watched a very helpful video!
Cursive: This morning we started the day with cursive writing practice!
Math: Today students learned how to conduct a survey, recorded the results on a graph and interpret the data shown by answering questions about what the graph shows. They loved going around and surveying their friends in the classroom!
Inquiry into Language: Today students learned and copied out the spelling words of the week. Then students used their spelling words to complete various tasks within their spelling workout books.
French: Mlle. Jessica was away today! Instead we took this time to work on our journal writing. Students were asked to write a journal using the correct components (date, title, opening sentence, sentence starters and closing sentence) about what they did on the weekend! We went over proper punctuations and stretching our sentences by including as much detail as possible. Then we were able to share them with the class!
Agenda:
1. Read 15 minutes
2. Book retell presentations on Thursday
3. Bring back re-registration package
4. Spelling test Friday
5. Spelling sentences due Friday
Unit of Inquiry: Today students were introduced to our next unit of inquiry ‘How The World Works: Inventions’. We used a brainstorming bubble to organize our ideas about what we think the word inventions means. Then we discussed the term inventions and what we will be learning during this unit. Next students had to brainstorm different inventions that have been created over time
Have a wonderful weekend,
Love, Miss Gandy
