I hope everyone had a lovely long Thanksgiving weekend spent with family and friends! I am so happy to be back. It is going to be a very busy week!

Inquiry into Language: Today students learned their words of the week and worked in their spelling workout book identifying words that ended and began with v,z,y,q.

Math: Today in math students reviewed for our upcoming math test this Friday. Together as a class we reviewed word problems. We went over that it is important to read the question twice and identify words that will help us determine whether we need to subtract or add. For example, Johnny had 16 crayons but he shared 10 with his friend Adam. How many crayons does he have? The word share tells us he is giving crayons away therefore we need to subtract. After students were finished we reviewed making groups of 10 and identifying how many groups of ten and how many ones we have leftover.

Unit of Inquiry: Today we started our summative presentations! At the end of the week we will have a chance to play the different games as a class. Well done to everyone who presented today. Presentations will happen throughout this remainder of this week!

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
