Our Fall Fundraiser is quickly approaching! What used to be our Spring Fundraiser is now our Fall Fundraiser and we need your help. This year, all funds raised will go towards our Art Productions, physical activity equipment and more Chromebooks. There will be a variety of exciting events and amazing prizes for students to win through their participation. These include sitting in the teacher chair for a day and decorating Mr. Oliver’s face with makeup!! The class who brings in the most money will win a pizza and movie party.

Daily Activities – Each activity costs $2.00!!

Monday, September 23^rd is PJ Day.

Tuesday, September 24^th is Popcorn Day.

Wednesday, September 25^th is Ice Cream Sandwich Day.

Thursday, September 26^th is Wacky Thursday.

Friday, September 27^th is Casual Day and Dance Party (JK-Grade 2) and Electronics Day and Casual Day (Grade 3-6).

Math:Today we reviewed patterns, attributes, pattern cores and using words, numbers and letters to describe a pattern.

Inquiry into Language:Today learned the definition of a verb. We discussed that a verb an action word or something you can do. For example, I ran to the park yesterday. Students had to identify different verbs in sentences and determined if certain words were either a verb or a noun.

Unit of Inquiry:Today we talked about different responsibilities we have been doing around the house and in school. We brainstormed as a class different ones that are important to us and wrote them on the board. Then children began to work a responsibility flower. They had to write down different responsibilities on the petals and put the pieces of the flower together! Tomorrow we will decorate with tissue paper! This piece of art will remind us of our responsibilities.

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
