Math: Today students reviewed different transitional concepts such as slide, flip, turn and rotate. Students had to determine the movements of different shapes. They were challenged when asked to determine how far they turned and in what direction. For example: 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 turn clockwise or counter clockwise.

Inquiry into Language: Today we wrote an opinion letter to Jack and Annie from our novel study ‘Afternoon on the Amazon’. We wrote to them about why we think it is important that they stay together when in the rainforest! We brainstormed ideas a class first and then students wrote their letter. Their letter needed to include the components of a letter such as date, heading, body (introduction sentence, concluding sentence), closing and signature.
