Spelling Bee packages and lists were sent home. Please use the list to study for the in-class competition. The Grade 1 in-class Spelling Bee will take place on Thursday, April 4th.

Math:Today students created and solved story problems using place value mats. After, as a class we went over some examples on the board.

Inquiry into Language: Today we read chapters 25 and 26 of our novel study and answered comprehension questions about the chapters we had read.

Unit of Inquiry:Today students finished their Ted Harrison art piece! They used a variety of cool and warm colours to portray a scenic background. We learned about using different lines to draw attention to main parts of our art pieces.

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
