Jump Rope for Heart –It is that time again! We will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart on Thursday, February 14^th. Donation packages have been sent home. You can make a pledge using cash or you can donate on the website - jumpropeforheart.ca. House points will be rewarded to each student who brings in donations. If we meet our school goal of $2500, students will be rewarded with a fun activity. Let’s see what we can do SJA!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend; we have a very exciting week ahead of us with 100^thday of school and Valentines Day!

Math: Today students learned about 3D Shapes. We brainstormed as a class what makes shapes 3D. We went over the common names of shapes such as cone, rectangular prism, sphere, cylinder, cube, square based pyramid, triangular prism etc. We discussed that when we are describing different shapes we look at their properties such as faces, edges, and vertices. Then children had to sort and identify shapes based on their characteristics.

Inquiry into Language:Today students wrote their spelling words out and worked in the spelling book. This week is review so students are being asked to review all 30 words that are on my blog. They have written down 10 words that they wish to write sentences for.

After children were done they finished their good copy of their Light bulb journal

Unit of Inquiry: Today students brainstormed the importance of different inventions. We had to fill out reasons how the inventions on the sheet have impacted our lives.

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
