Happy Wonderful Wednesday!

We are off to the Science Centre tomorrow! Please ensure children are wearing their dress uniform and pack a disposable lunch.

Math:Today we reviewed 3D Shapes and their properties. We went over the meaning of the terms vertices, faces and edges. Children worked through different activities identifying different shapes and their characteristics.

Daily 5: Today we learned the learner profile of the month ‘open minded’. We discussed how we could show open-mindedness inside and outside the classroom, such as trying new things, appreciating different cultures/traditions, growing from our experiences and listening to others points of views. We read a book called ‘Dear Dragon’ that displayed two characters being open minded with one another.

Inquiry into Language:Today students wrote a journal entry using sentence starters, correct punctuation, introduction sentence, title and date.

Unit of Inquiry: Today we read another chapter of our novel study ‘Charlie and The Chocolate Factory’ and introduced to two new characters, Augustus and Veruca. After we wrote a character description on one of the two new characters.

Then students continued writing their biography on their chosen inventor.

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
